The protocol does not own genesis
A standard component guarantees only that each world's anchor exists, off the axis — it never dictates what the anchor is.

1. The Predicament: Who Issues the First Piece of Evidence
Every system that treats evidence as currency must answer an ancient question: who issues the first piece of evidence? A proof chain has to start somewhere — "who verifies the verifier" regresses forever. The centralized solution is the blunt one: appoint an institution as the origin. The cost is equally blunt: the origin becomes that institution's property — it governs not only your present but your provenance.
2. The Answer Lives Off the Axis
In our vocabulary, radiant, probation and ghost all stand on the evidence axis: earnable, losable, moving with the proof. Genesis stands off the axis — an epoch anchor: unearnable, unlosable, with no application path. It is not a rank; it is the fact of a world's beginning. The analogy is ready-made: year one of the Gregorian calendar was not the best-performing year — it does not compete at all.
3. The Standard-Component View
RTTP and IQA are a standard component, not a platform. Embedded in a DNS scene, genesis is that scene's epoch; embedded in a corporate intranet, the day that system went live; embedded in a federation of agents, the moment the federation formed. The component guarantees only that the anchor exists, off the axis; what it anchors is the embedder's territory. "Who owns genesis" is therefore not a multiple-choice question — every world that embeds the component has its own creation story.
4. The Contrast, Reversed
Bitcoin's genesis block is also an off-axis anchor: unearnable, accepted by all. But it anchors exactly one creation story for the entire universe — the origin narrative is monopolized. The standard component's anchor allows many worlds side by side, each telling its own origin, none adjudicating the others. This sharpens the definition of openness by one degree: openness is not the absence of an origin — it is refusing to monopolize one.
5. The Backdoor Self-Check
Someone will ask: isn't genesis a backdoor — who gets to mark whom as genesis? The answer is structural: we cannot. A deployment is valid only for its own scene; organ-relativity runs all the way through the time axis, exactly as standing is already keyed per (subject, organ). The anchor slot is guaranteed by the specification, the anchor's content is declared by the embedder, verification is held by the relying party — no layer in that stack belongs to us.
6. Closing
The defect of assignment is turning ownership into tenancy; the previous essay said true derivation replaces the landlord of possession with mathematics. This essay adds the other half: the off-axis anchor lifts the origin out of competition — the address without a landlord (space), the origin without a contest (time). As for how the landlord of trust collects rent — that 120-second lease — that is the next essay's business.
